You've always thought that brown rice was much higher in fiber than white rice but that's not the case. Half a cup of brown rice contains .2 grams of dietary fiber while white rice is in the neighborhood of .1 grams. True, brown rice has slightly more protein but it's also higher in calories -- 89 calories per half cup as opposed to 82 for white.
