Improve your image & body language with better self confidence through these simple steps.

Ending the week & going into the weekend on a positive note can sometimes be a challenge.

Many successful businesswomen (& men) sometimes find themselves struggling and lacking confidence. They may have it most of the time, but life happens and they need to get back on track. I've been there, so I know you have to work at it.

Self-confidence is a powerful mindset that helps one fight through tough times & deal with adversity. You cannot snap a finger & just get it. You have to learn how to temper your emotions, practice those traits and master them to maintain a steady flow of confidence.

There are several ways to work on your own self-confidence. This can apply to everyone, from moms to entrepreneurs to athletes of all ages.

1. Act the part.

Positive body language can instantly demonstrate self-assuredness. Oh the contrary, bad body language can show signs of insecurity and self-doubt. When you look confident and act the part you not only feel better, but others will have much more confidence in you as well. Teammates can draw from positive or be sucked into the abyss of bad body language, always wear your emotions on the inside and act the part. Don't be a Debbie Downer!

2. Look the part.

When you look good, you feel good. If you dress for success you have a better chance of finding that success, increasing your self-esteem. Sure, casual Friday can still be a productive day, but there’s no need to be casual Monday thru Thursday as well. Look like the part you want to play and dress for success. I LOVE MY YOGA PANTS, but I can't always wear them, sometimes I have to wear big girl clothes, so always dress the part!

3. Speak with confidence.

Listen to politicians or coaches that talk to the camera. The ones that speak confidently usually do it smoothly and in a rhythm. Very seldom will they use “ums” and “ahs” or “ohs” that slow their flow, they talk clearly and use pauses to stress importance. Adopt an assertive, but not aggressive, way of speaking that indicates your self-confidence. You will feel your self-esteem begin to rise. To be taken seriously, avoid high-pitched, nervous chatter in your speech. People will listen to you more attentively when they see the leader radiate from within you.

4. Think positively & get after it.

People flock to positive energy. Smiling and laughing leads to positive results so set your mind to the can-do side of any situation. The more positive people you associate with the better. Being around negative people creates negative energy, and others will pick up on it. Don’t be afraid to talk to strangers, sometimes a great outcome comes from the unknown. Staying quiet and avoiding conversation will not help the cause. Speak up and speak often, using clear sentences and with positive energy.

5. Prepare yourself.

I read this once at it stuck, the five P’s: Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Get prepared for the challenge at hand. Learn all you can about the subject or the business you are dealing with. Learn about its leaders. Have questions in your mind ready to address at any time.

The best plans rarely go totally smooth, so the more prepared you are the easier it will be able to handle bumps in the road of any conversation. I love to role play before I appear on tv, whether it’s on the shopping channels or a local tv show. I practice my speeches before I go on stage and come up with questions the host or audience may ask. The more prepared you are, the better the outcome.

Be that part & look the part and you be become the part! Best of luck, you got this!!!

I'M HERE TO HELP YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!
